NEW BUILD ENERGY EFFICIENT HOUSE IN FAYETTEVILLE, AR
This is a relatively small house (1200 SF not including the two cars garage) built with Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) and Insulated Concrete Form foundations. The SIP consists of two sheets engineered wood (OSB) with expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) laminated between them. SIP panels combine framing, sheathing and insulation into one step for use as exterior walls, roof, and sometimes floors.
SIPS have high R-value foam core. Compared to stud construction a SIP thermal shell is 15x more air tight. SIPS can save you between 40%-50% on your heating and cooling costs! They conserve energy and they are environmentally friendly.
The construction is 30% faster because SIP combines framing, sheathing and insulations into one step.
This Energy Efficient House was completed in 2013 and got a 5-Star Plus HERS rating: The Highest 5 Star Plus of any house tested in Fayetteville, AR!
